Pro-opposition pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has renewed its calls for an inquest to be conducted into the death of the late President John Mills who was reported to have suffered a massive stroke on the day he died.The pressure group at a press conference Monday said they are in support of the Ghana Medical Association’s demands for a presidential committee to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of the late President Mills.According to GMA, such investigations will put to rest the various speculations and accounts of the sequence of events that led to the death of the President.Speaking to Joy FM Monday, a leading member of AFAG, Abu Ramadan said there is the need to conduct an overall inquiry into the health system at the presidency and also find out whether there was a system failure that may have led to the death of the President.The group also stated that such an inquiry would equally establish whether someone’s negligence may have caused the tragedy. Abu Ramadan also questioned Dr. Cadman Mills’ statement that the President suffered a massive stroke.The AFAG member said per Dr. Cadman Mills’ account, if the late President had massive stroke it would not have been possible for the late President to have raised his hands and pray as he (Dr. Cadman Mills) revealed on Friday.Prof. Agyemang Badu-Akosa, a member of the Ghana Medical Association explained that the inquest into the cause of death of President Mills has become necessary to solve the mystery that surrounded the death of the late President.According to Prof. Badu-Akosa, some of the concerns raised by AFAG are legitimate such as their demand of an inquiry into the President’s health machinery. He however advised the group to petition the Coroner for the Inquest to be carried out.
