Information Minister Friz Baffoe has admitted pressure from electorate, coupled with the demand of their work, end up breaking them down.
He said these bring so much pressure on them to the extent that they are sometimes affected psychologically.
With reports suggesting that the President Mills refused to take a rest when he needed to so, due to the enormity of the job, some believe the persistent criticisms rained on his person, may have worsened his ailing health.
Speaking Wednesday on Adm TV’s morning show “Badwam” on Multi TV, Mr. Baffoe said it is time Ghanaians changed their perception that politicians and government appointees should take care of their bills and other matters.
He however acknowledged this is a worldwide phenomenon, citing cases of current US President Barrack Obama and UK Prime Minister David Cameroon as well as other world leaders who have aged rapidly soon after assuming their offices.
Touching on his working relationship with the late president Mills, Mr. Baffuor described the late President as more of consultative person, and one legacy that he [Fritz Baffoe] wished Ghanaians could learn from is to maintain the status quo when government changes.
Asked if government would heed to the calls of disclosing the medical status of the late President, Mr. Baffoe stressed that, government could only do so if it gets approval from the family of the late president.
The Information Minister asserts he does not expect any major shake-up in the administrative set up of government as the nation draws close to general elections in December.
