Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi has urged stakeholders of education to play their respective roles to complement the efforts of government in the implementation of laudable policies to enhance national development.
Addressing newsmen at Nkoranza he said since education was the bedrock of every nation's development, there was the need for all stakeholders to render selfless services to advance it.
The Deputy Minister advised teachers to use dialogue in seeking redress to their grievances and to desist from resorting to strike actions, saying such actions adversely affected innocent students.
Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi, who is Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South advised the youth to take their education serious and to eschew negative practices such as pre-marital sex, alcoholism and taking of hard drugs.
He called on the youth especially those who could not obtain admission into tertiary institutions to learn vocations and engage in income generating ventures.
Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi advised parents to invest in the education of their children as education was the only viable legacy they could bequeath to them.
He appealed to citizens of Nkoranza to promote love, unity and cooperation amongst them so they could initiate and complete development projects to enhance their living standards.
The Deputy Minister urged Assembly Members, unit committees and traditional authorities to assist the District Assembly to initiate programmes beneficial to the people and cautioned the youth against being divided by partisan politics as the country prepared for the 2008 electioneering campaigns.
