Mr. Joe Gidisu, Minister of Roads and Highways, on Friday said the Ghana Highways Authority had no immediate plans to tar the Sankor-Cape Three Points road in the Ahanta West District.
He said however, that in view of the discovery of oil in the area, the Ministry intends to discuss with the Ministry of Energy the reconstruction and upgrading of a number of roads in the area, which would be critical to the operations of the oil industry.
Mr Gidisu was responding a question in Parliament on when the Ministry would complete the tarring of the Sankor-Cape Three Points road.
In response to another question on when the road network in the Ablekuma Central Constituency would be rehabilitated, he said work on these roads would be based on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's priority roads to be rehabilitated and packaged in 2010.
On other roads in the Dade Kotopon Constituency, Mr Gidisu said the road designs on these roads were being reviewed by the Department of Urban Roads for packaging into projects for implementation in 2010 and 2011.
