Organisers of this year’s Museke Online Africa Music Awards (MOAMAs) have extended the voting deadline for the awards to May 29.
May 15 was the initial deadline but organisers say the extension will afford the general public and music lovers ample time to vote for their favourite African artistes.
Museke.com, an online African music resource centre, together with its partners, launched the annual MOAMAs on April 6.
Responses from African musicians, music fans and supporters of African music, according to organisers, have been encouraging as people from all over Africa are embracing musicians they had previously never heard of and learning more about various African music styles and artistes.
Through the annual MOAMAs, Museke aims to encourage the unity of Africans employing music. The MOAMAs will honour the best African musicians over the course of 2009.
With a total of 130 nominations in 28 categories which will cover different genres and regions, the MOAMAs is distinct as it encompasses all African music, regardless of video submission, language, genre and country and recognises excellence in music.
The full list of nominees can be found and voted for on http://moamas.com. Winners will be announced on June 1.
