Amidaus Professionals midfielder Yahaya Mohammed admits with determination he will surely book a place in Ghana’s final squad for the AFCON 2013 tournament in South Africa.
The 24-year-old utility player is part of five locally based players who have been included in Coach James Kwesi Appiah’s 26-man provisional squad for a pre -tournament exercise in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The former Nice midfielder currently leads the goal king race with nine goals after nine appearances, has won the hearts of most Ghanaian soccer fans with his overwhelming performance int the domestic league.
“I will proof my worth in camp, even though my aim has been to play in the senior national team,so was surprised at the call up because I had never been invited for any of the black stars friendlies but I believe I will work for it. I am confident in myself, so even if just 20 players are to be selected, I will make the squad but when dropped, I won’t be disturbed.” He told Asempa sports.
The Black Stars will play Egypt and Tunisia in two friendly matches during the training camp in Abu Dhabi.
The final squad will then be named ahead of the CAF deadline of 10 days before the start of the competition.
Ghana is drawn in Group B that will be based in Port Elizabeth alongside Mali, Niger and DR Congo.
