Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was seen giving a supporter his European Super Cup runners-up medal after his side's 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid.
Manchester United saw their hopes of winning a fourth trophy under Mourinho dashed by a superb Real Madrid side in Skopje.
The Red Devils may have shelled out over £100million on new recruits Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof - but their Spanish counterparts put them to the sword.
Even without Cristiano Ronaldo, Real were a class above and ran out deserved winners courtesy of goals from Casemiro and Isco.
Lukaku managed to net a consolation on his Red Devils debut but Jose Mourinho tasted defeat in a cup final for the first time since losing the same competition to Bayern Munich in 2013.
The Portuguese handed his medal to a fan at the final whistle.
And the 54-year-old explained the decision in the post-match press conference.
“Sometimes when I win, I don’t keep the medals – so imagine when I lose!” he said.
“For me, the medal would go to some place in my house; for that kid, it’s the moon – something to keep and remember.
“It was a little kid with a United shirt. I have no idea where he comes from. I think it’s something he’ll never forget.
"I repeat: when I win, they don’t mean much, so imagine when I lose!”
A top gesture from Jose to give his #SuperCup runners-up medal to a young fan ðŸ‘
