The draw for the third Joy Sports Invitational Tournament which comes off Saturday, October 23, at the Ajax Park, University of Ghana, Legon, has been held in the premises of Joy FM in Accra.
The draw which pitches Team Multimedia against arch rivals Zenith Bank in group A for the tournament’s opening game will also see Databank and UT Bank facing off in the other group A match.
Nestle plays Amal Bank in the Group B opening game whiles Macc Dann Shipping tangos with Women’s World Banking in the second group match.
Group C will witness an encounter between Nallem Clothings and Unibank. Aqua Botanica and the US Embassy will play in the other group match.
Major sponsors MTN will lock horns with the Audit Service after an encounter between First Capital Plus and Promassidor.
In order to ensure fair play in the tournament, each team is expected to play with employees. The teams are also to feature a player no younger than 45 years old. Each team must in addition field a top management member in each game.
There will be two matches in each group at the preliminary stages where 8 winners will progress to the next stage. In order to promote the spirit of competition in the game, the other 8 losers will be paired to play against each other, out of which four winners at this point will rejoin the initial 8 winners for the next stage to make up 12 teams.
There will be an elimination round where the twelve teams will be whittled down to 6. The 6 teams will then be put into two groups for a round-robin.
The group leaders will qualify for the finals whiles the runners up will play for bronze.
