A 43-year-old woman, Abena Pomaa, and her 10-year-old daughter, Blessing Oppong, have been found dead in their bedroom at Ohene-Djan near Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality.
The bodies of the two, which were found in a pool of blood, were retrieved by the police on Sunday evening with cuts on their throats.
Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, ACP Patrick Adusei Sarpong, said the deceased woman, a native of Dormaa Ahenkro, and her daughter, a pupil of Excel International School at Ohene-Djan, had been reported missing since last Thursday.
He said other tenants in the house thought she had travelled until Sunday when an unusually bad odour started emanating from her room, with houseflies hovering around her windows.
The tenants, who suspected something might have happened to her, then forced the door open and saw both mother and daughter lying dead in a pool of blood.
Upon examination, the Police found cuts on their throats, with blood around their necks.
"This gives the impression that they were murdered", ACP Sarpong indicated.
The Acting Regional Police Commander therefore appealed to members of the general public to volunteer information to the police to assist them in their investigations so as to unmask the killers.
