Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari has spoken of his disappointment at his continuous exclusion from the Black Stars and vowed he will work hard to regain his place in the side.
The player has not been called for international duties after a series of incidents at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa earned him bad boy status among the team’s managers and technical staff.
He has also struggled for first team football this season but has taken his chance well since getting a look in after injuries denied club boss Rafael Benitez the services of some of the midfielders Muntari is competing against.
He told Ghanasoccernet he is ‘very disappointed’ at his exclusion from the Saudi Arabia game and claims his season is taking a turn for the better.
Muntari said: “At the start of the season things were difficult for me but over the past few weeks things have improved and I was hoping to be part of the Black Stars.
“The only thing I have to do is to continue to work hard and fight for my place in the Black Stars and this is exactly what I will do.”
The former Liberty Professionals player also insists that he has no outstanding disciplinary issues pending at the Ghana Football Association.
“Where I made mistakes I apologised and learnt some lessons from it and crucially I have resolved not to repeat them,” Muntari said.
“My apologies were accepted in good faith so I don’t think there are any outstanding issues.
Muntari has been left out of the squads for games against South Africa, Swaziland, Sudan and now Saudi Arabia since the 2010 World Cup ended.
