Popular Broadcaster Kwami Sefa-Kayi has expressed frustration that he could not cast his ballot because his name has not been found on a list of special voters list
This is the second time he has encountered this problem as hundreds have been turned away from voting centers with the same problem.
The special voters are early voters who by their professional categories cannot vote on the general election day December 7. They are journalists, health professionals and security officers whose services are deemed essential on voting day hence the early opportunity.
The special voting was held last Thursday, December 1, for 127,000 professionals.
But after the process was gutted with problems of missing names, the EC was compelled to extend the exercise to Sunday.
At least 34,000 voters are expected to take advantage of this second window. But the problem of missing names still persists.
When Sefa-Kayi, multiple award-winning hosts of Accra-based Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' visited his designated voting center at Tema Community 2 polling station in the Tema West constituency he was left disappointed.
'My name has vanished' he told Francis Abban on Joy News Sunday.
"It's not just me...there are quite a number of us out here and maybe I will go and try again on Wednesday," the disappointed Broadcaster indicated.
Dozens of security officers, journalists and even the electoral commission's own officials are unable to find their names on the special voter's list despite the second day of voting.
Same problems were recorded at Amasaman, Cantonment, La Dadekotopon in Greater Accra region and Tamale Central in the Northern region as the second day of special voting begins.
Some finger pointing between the EC and security heads has already begun.
If a registered special voter is unable to vote, it could be that the security officers did not send the names to the EC or the sent names were not added to the special voter's list or the added names are scattered in a register somewhere.
It means a voter may have to comb some polling centers to find the right voting center.
