The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South and Minister-Designate for Information, Mr. Fritz Baffour has conceded his task at the Information Minister will be tedious but maintains with determination and hard work, he will succeed.
According to him, his appointment is an honour bestowed on him by the president and that he will do everything possible not to disappoint him.
As anticipated, President Mills on Wednesday reshuffled his Ministers bringing in new faces and relieving others of their posts.
Health Minister, Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Deputy Volta Regional Minister Cyril Neku and Information Minister John Tia have been dropped.
Acting Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Benjamin Kunbour has been made the substantive A-G, while Works and Housing Minister Alban Sumana Bagbin takes over the Health Ministry.
ET Mensah goes to the Works and Housing Ministry from the employment ministry while Mr. Lee Ocran who is Ghana’s high commission to South Africa is taking over the Education Ministry.
Mr. Fritz Baffour is heading to the Information Ministry with Mr. William Kwesi Aboah taking over from Dr. Kumbour as Interior Minister-designate.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii-Sen shortly after the reshuffle on Wednesday, Mr Fritz Baffour noted that his new position is an assignment and that “I can perform well”.
He stressed that the Minister of Information is the one in charge of government policies with the aim of demystifying it in order to make it comprehensible to the ordinary Ghanaian. “It will be my duty to couch every policy and information of government in order to make the people understand so I hope as a communicator I can do that better”.
“Every work is difficult and this year is also an election year so the work will be more demanding. But with the President reposing confidence in me and appointing me as a minister, I will not let him down at all” Fritz asserted.
When asked whether he will not have language difficulty as the leader of government communication, Fritz Baffour said “I have no language difficulty at all as a person”. I speak total ‘Ga’ and good English. It is Twi that I cannot express myself in so generally my work will not be difficult for me at all”.
”I will approach my work with great optimism and free mind so I cannot say now that President Mills’ government has communication challenges”.
He assured the public of selfless leadership and hard work and will make his strategy available after sailing through vetting. “My strategy will come out but let me go through the vetting processes. I will meet all the key players in the information ministry in order to make the work easier”.
“I will like to promise everybody that I will be an effective leader of government communication” he asserted.
