Wisdom Na-Adjrago is 2017 National Ranking Champion for the fifth time, equalling George Drako’s record (2015 National Ranking Tour 1,2 and 3).
The Koforidua-based player won 7-6(6), 7-6(2) over Kwabena Ofosu Bamfo at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis Court on Friday. It was a very good atmosphere on Friday's final but still the Tennis Arena was empty.
Friday’s victory also made Na-Adjrago the third player to have won the Ranking title back to back, tying up with George Drako(2015 National Ranking Tour 1, and 2) and Bernard Armah Ashitey(2016 National Ranking Tour 5 and 6). It was Na-Adjrago's second win over Kwabena Ofosu Bamfo in the final of these championships
“I can’t lie and say I didn’t think about it,” Na-Adjrago said. “Of course it was in the back of my mind. Coming into the court, I knew that I have a chance to make the history. Of course it served as a great motivation, as a great imperative to play my best.”
Wisdom added: “I need to pay respect to Kwabena Bamfo for another great tournament. Tough final. You’re a great player”.

For long stretches in the two hours and 53 minutes the match lasted with a lot of rallies.
First set
Kwabena Ofosu Bamfo took an early lead of 4-2 after taking his serve twice. Wisdom broke back to close the gap to 3-4 and won his serve to level things up. Each player took his serve 6 games in to reach a tie-break. Wisdom broke Bamfo twice to win the tie-break 8-6.
Second set
The second also went to tie-break and Na-Adjrago won 7-6(2)
“Congratulations to Na-Adjrago” Kwabena Ofosu Bamfo says. “It is amazing how he is playing. Congrats, I am very happy for him (Na-Adjrago). It has been a great week for me.”
