A female employee at the Kpando District branch of NADMO, Charlotte Kumi, has alleged that her boss sexually harassed her.
Madam Kumi alleged that Kpando District NADMO Director, Christian Attoh had made unsavoury comments about her behind and at one point made her watch a pornographic film on his laptop.
“He used to tell me that it seems I’ve put a foam at my back…so I know that anytime I dress and come to the office and he looks at my back, I’m in trouble,” she lamented.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Madam Kumi said the NADMO boss had been sexually harassing her for quite some time and alleged that other women there are experiencing similar harassment.
She said Mr. Attoh once called her “Maame Water” (mermaid) due to the long hair she had and this prompted her to cut it short since she did not like the name.
The lady also alleged that her boss called her one day while watching a pornographic movie and asked her questions about some sex styles.
“There was a time I entered his main office… he said Charlotte come, [and] then I went. He took some Toshiba laptop in front of him and I found out that this man is watching [a] pornography film.
“Then he asked me, Charlotte what is missionary position and I asked what is the meaning… he asked me what is scissors and I said is it not the one they use to cut hair… when he opened the dictionary, he said I should find the meaning of missionary position and scissors, which I did and I found out that the whole thing is talking about sex,” she said.
Madam Kumi said Mr Attoh one day called her into his office and locked the door, but she said she had to insist that the door be unlocked. He obliged, she said.
Madam Kumi then said Mr Attoh complained of pains in his leg and asked her to massage it so she pretended to do so while holding his leg. She said not long after, he tried to slip his hand into her dress, which prompted her to bolt.
According to her, after that episode, her boss became cold towards her and has succeeded in convincing district assembly officials that she tried to seduce him as well as processing her transfer to the Northern Region.
She said complaints lodged with the regional CHRAJ office in the Volta Region proved unhelpful as representatives from the body only went to Mr Attoh’s office to issue him a warning.
She therefore prayed for President J.E.A. Mills’ personal intervention in the matter.
Meanwhile, Mr Christian Attoh, speaking on Citi FM, denied ever sexually harassing the lady, describing her charge as “calculated lies”.
Mr Attoh claimed that the issue started when Madam Kumi absented herself from work for a couple of days to which he issued her a query.
According to him, this infuriated her and she started shouting at him in the office.
The matter, he said was subsequently sent to the District Chief Executive in the area as well as the NADMO headquarters in Accra.
He said investigators came over to carry out investigations and that no evidence of sexual harassment was found.
