The wife of the flagbearer of the NPP, Rebecca Akufo-Addo together with the chieftaincy and fisher folk sub-committee of the party has donated assorted items to the people of Ningo and Prampram as they celebrate Homowo festival.
The festival is to thank God and their ancestors for protecting them and ushering them into the New Year.
A member of the chieftaincy and fisher folk’s sub-committee of the NPP, John Sewu told Citi News, “Rebecca Akufo-Addo has her maternal side coming from Ningo hence her decision to join her people in the festival celebrations and donate some items to her people.”
A sub-committee has been inaugurated in the NPP to relate with the traditional councils in the Greater Accra Region “and now that the various traditional areas are celebrating their festival, this sub-committee is going round making some donations to them for Nana Addo,” he explained.
The Chief of Great Ningo Traditional area, Nene Kanor Ateapah III lamented the lack of development in the township and has called on his people to vote for a candidate who will bring development to the area.
Nene Kanor Ateapah III also re-affirmed his stance against the creation of the Ningo Prampram District saying, “we deserve to be a district on our own. Since they have made Prampram a district, we will not accept that because we have all the resources to be a district. I don’t care if I am arrested for saying this because I am speaking the truth.”
He further stated that “at Prampram, E.T. Mensah is constructing about four highways but we have been left out and being treated like a door mat.”
He made this known during a presentation including bags of maize, bottles of schnapps and an undisclosed amount of money from the wife of NPP flagbearer, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
The Chief of Prampram, Nene Tetteh Djan III who also received a similar donation from Rebecca Akufo-Addo used the occasion to call for a peaceful election.
“Our focus should be on unity leading to the 2012 elections because that is what we all need to ensure total development in the region and the country as a whole”, he said.
The wife of Nana Addo, Rebecca Akuffo Addo, a native of Ningo said the presentations were to support the Homowo festival of the people of Ningo Prampram.
She said: “I just went along to present a few items for the Homowo festival and to send them greetings from my husband Nana Addo and from myself. I didn’t make any promises but I said God willing, if we are able to make it, I will be able to help them out since I am a citizen of Ningo.”
