The National Gas Development Taskforce established by President John Evans Atta Mills to review and make appropriate recommendations for the speedy realization of a national gas commercialization infrastructure system, has presented its final report and recommendations to the President at the Osu Castle on Wednesday.
A statement signed by Mr Koku Anyidoho, Head of Communications at the Presidency, indicated that chairman of the taskforce, Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, said that the work of the team proved to be much more
complex and extensive than anticipated but the team remained undaunted by the unexpected challenges.
The recommendations include an early phase, which if implemented expeditiously, would enable the evacuation and treatment of associated gas from the Jubilee Field production, according to the statement.
It said: “in the long term, the establishment of a full scale processing facility will enhance LPG recovery as well as the treatment of gas from phase 2 of the Jubilee Fields production as well as other gas fields that will come into operation over time.”
The statement said President Mills thanked Dr. Botchwey and his colleagues for a good work done and gave the assurance that the recommendations would be carefully studied and implemented.
