The Navrongo Central Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the party's National Executive to stop the immediate past Regional Vice Chairman of the Party, Mr. Richard Adua from ruining the fortunes of the party.
Levelling a number of allegations against Richard Adua the youth said he was the architect of all the problems and misfortunes of the party in the constituency.
The youth wing in a press statement issued and signed by the Constituency Youth Organizer, Mr. Ajenda Adua, alleged that Mr. Richard Adua was quarrelsome and non cooperative when issues come up for debate in party circles.
The youth wing alleged that the immediate past Regional Vice Chairman incited some party members who contested the Regional Executive Election and lost and were peeved, against the Regional Minister and the Regional Executives.
The Youth Wing also alleged that Mr. Adua was among the people in the party who fuelled the recent allegations leveled against the Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo on the award of contracts to cronies and family members.
They contended that even though he is the first to be awarded about three contracts in the Region since the NDC came to power, he sold them out to other contractors and is still not satisfied with it when the party was only fifteen months in government.
"The only thing he could do is to distract the attention of the Regional Minister and the Party", they youth wing added.
The youth wing also alleged that Mr. Adua denied them and took over farm plots they applied for from the Tono Irrigation Project to do farming in order to generate money to support the party and gave it to his wife.
Mr. Adua, reacting to the allegations leveled against him in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, debunked the allegations and challenged the youth wing to substantiate them with facts.
He indicated that in 2004 he personally contacted Mr. Woyongo to contest the Parliamentary election in the constituency on the ticket of the party to which Mr. Woyongo declined because he was still in office.
According to him even though Mr. Woyongo declined the proposal he (Mr. Woyongo) gave him (Mr. Adua) some money to support the campaign activities which he in turn gave it to the constituency executive for the exercise and wondered why he would thwart the Minister's efforts and the party as a whole.
He further explained that in the 2008 elections, he was one of the persons who endorsed the Electoral Commission form which Mr. Woyongo filed to contest the parliamentary election for the Navrongo Central Constituency and even took him round to introduce him as the NDC parliamentary candidate to elders and chiefs in the area.
Mr. Adua denied the allegation that he was always dictating to government officials and threatening them and said the youth wing should know that he was the former Regional Vice Chairman of the party and had never supported any member of the party to vote against Mr. Woyongo who failed to win the Navrongo Central seat in 2008 election.
He said he had documents on him to prove that he went through the normal process to acquire a plot from the Tono Irrigation Project and challenged his accusers and other interested parties to check from the Management of the Project to ascertain the truth.
