David Nazareth and Felicity Gyeabour, both of the Celebrity Golf Club became the proud winners of the 2006 Afariwaah Invitational Golf Championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday.
Nazareth scored 47 points, while Felicity had 46 points, beating Margaret Owusu-Baah on count-back to clinch E.K. Ocanssey took the second position with 43 points, Appau Oppong placed third with 42 points, beating B.K. Koblah on count-back, while Bright Adablanu placed fifth with 41 points, also beating Richard Agbenu on count-back.
Florence Etwi-Barimah placed third in the Ladies category with 39 points by beating Comfort Amuzu on count-back. In the Professisonals category, Victor Brave-Mensah came first with 70 gross, A.S. Ibrahim came second with 73 gross, and was followed by Baba Akologo with 75 gross while E.K. Osei placed fourth with 76 gross.
The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition was sponsored by Afariwaah Farms and Estates Limited. Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, President of the Country Golf Club thanked the company for sponsoring the event.
He said the Tema Country Golf Club's management would make everything possible to ensure that the Course is playable. Nana Owusu Afari, Managing Director of Afariwaah Farms and Estates Limited gave the assurance that the company would continue to sponsor the event in the ensuing years.
