The National Communications Authority, will this afternoon, respond to AFAG’s opposition to a new system for monitoring international calls.
According to government, the Intelligent Signaling Monitoring System will stop revenue losses from international calls.
But the pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance claims the system can be used to monitor private communication in violation of Ghana’s privacy laws.
AFAG has sued the NCA and is seeking an injunction against the installation and use of the system.
The Human Rights Court is due to hear the case on June 16, but Joy News has learnt the NCA will go ahead with the installation and use of the ISMS, which was officially meant to commence today.
Meanwhile AFAG has denied accusations its receiving support from the Telecom Companies to thwart government’s effort at raising revenue from international calls.
