The Editor of the Daily Graphic, Kobby Asmah has stressed the need for the Media to deepen its relationship with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to help it achieve its mandate of serving the people of Ghana.
He said “there is a need for the Graphic Communication Group Limited and the NCCE to deepen their relationship” in order to promote civic education in the country.
He stated that his outfit was impressed about the work of the Commission hence the need to find ways to promote thework of the Commission all year round.

Mr Asmah made these remarks when the Chairman of NCCE, Josephine Nkrumah engaged newsmen at the GCGL in Accra, as part of the observance of the NCCE’s Constitution Week Celebration.
The Chairman of the Commission, Ms. Josephine Nkrumah entreated Ghanaians to appreciate Civic Education and make the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, an everyday reference document that would help Ghanaians to know their rights and responsibilities.

Ms. Nkrumah said when citizens are well versed with their rights and responsibilities, they would be in the position to demand accountability from the government and duty bearers.
The NCCE boss shared with the news staff activities outlined for this year’s Constitution Week Celebration.
In previous years, the NCCE had engaged the security agencies during the week, however, Ms Nkrumah said this year in order to demystify the 1992 Constitution for every Ghanaian citizen, the Commission is engaging the media and public on the need to protect the country’s Constitution and democracy.

Additionally, the Commission is distributing copies of the 1992 Constitution to media organisations and organising street quizzes on the Constitution as part ofthe Constitution Week.
The week-long celebration, according to the Chairman, focuses on educating Ghanaians on the need to uphold the Ghanaian values, respect for the Rule of Law, uphold human rights, and ensure effective citizen participation in governance.
Ms Nkrumah highly commended the newspaper brands of the Graphic Communications GroupLimited (GCGL), particularly the Daily Graphic and the Junior Graphic for promoting Civic Education in the country.
She applauded the Daily Graphic as a reliable partner to the Commission and thanked the news team for disseminating useful information to help Ghanaians understand their rights and responsibilities.
She later presented 20 copies of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to the Editor and urged the staff to make time to read it and acquaint themselves with the provisions of the Constitution.
Ms.Nkrumah and her team later toured the newsroom of the Daily Graphic, the Junior Graphic, and entreated the staff to observe the COVID-19 safety protocols at work.
