The Volta Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress has said that the New Patriotic Party's Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong has broken his oath of Parliament, and must resign.
The Assin North MP, Kennedy Agyapong declared war on people of a particular ethnic descent on an Accra based radio,Oman FM.
The regional secretary, Simon Amegashie in a statement issued on Friday said, “Mr. Kennedy Agyapong has broken his oath of parliament which is stated in Chapter five of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, which Mr. Agyapong is on oath to uphold, preserve, protect and defend, as enshrined provisions on fundamental human rights and freedoms.”
“We believe the good and kind-hearted people of Assin North; deserve to be represented in parliament by a more responsible person”, the statement said.
The statement however called on all to to exercise restraints in these difficult times of our democratic dispensation and trust that the institutions of state charged with protecting life and property are equal to the task of doing so.
