A National Democratic Congress youth group in Tamale has warned of possible violent clashes at its regional and constituency congresses if differences between two known factions in Tamale are not patched.
The Alhaji Sumani and Ibrahim factions have remained belligerent for some time now.
The youth group which calls itself NDC Moving Force believes President Mills is the only person who can reconcile the two factions.
Joy FM’s Northern Regional Correspondent, Mahama Shaibu says all attempts to reconcile the factions have failed.
With the NDC in power now, the two camps in the Northern Regional capital have become even more aggressive, lobbying hard to outdo each other in terms of benefits they hope to rake from their association with the government.
Each faction, according to Mahama Shaibu, is trying to gain control of the party so as to be able to satisfy the needs and desires of its members.
The NDC Moving Force says its call for intervention stems partly from a news conference held by one of the factions at which the National Chairman of the party, Dr Kwabena Adjei was verbally attacked.
He was accused of siding with the other faction.
