A group calling itself Movement for Better Ghana has raised alarm over what it says are attempts to vilify Education Minister, Betty Mould-Iddrisu, over her role in the Alfred Woyome judgement debt case.
The group accuses some members of the government of trying to make the education minister a scapegoat in the controversial GHS42 million brouhaha.
Addressing a news conference in Kumasi, its Communications Manager Francis Dodovi said throughout the case, Mrs. Iddrissu who was then the Attorney General acted in good faith.
He said people who have scores to settle with the former A-G are using this opportunity to attack her person.
Mr Dodovi said the erstwhile Kufuor administration must be held responsible for the moneys paid to Mr Woyome due to the irresponsible abrogation of his contract.
He said people in the past administration knew about Woyome and therefore cannot pretend that he just surfaced when the NDC came to power.
Mr. Dodovi is confident investigations by the Economic and Organized Crime Organization will clear the Education Minister of any wrongdoing.
