Political Affiliation was abandoned when the plaintiffs who were seeking to place an injunction on the New Patriotic Party's (NPP's) October 18 congress were represented by "hardcore fanatics" of the ruling National Democratic Con­gress (NDC), lawyers, David Annan and Eric Tieku.

This development at an Accra Fast Track High Court on Friday, 26 September, 2014, stunned members of the NPP and those present at the court, who wondered why members of the NPP had employed the services of lawyers of the NDC to push for a postponement of the NPP presidential pri­mary to elect its presiden­tial candidate for the 2016 elections.

According to eyewit­nesses, throughout the entire sitting, Lawyer David Annan, who was seated directly behind his NDC colleague and lead counsel, Eric Tieku, was seen guiding and instruct­ing him (Tieku) on the arguments to be advanced on behalf of the plaintiffs, Rexford Agyei Frimpong and Oppong Kyekyeku.

Sources at the court also indicated that pro­ceedings were interrupted on several occasions as David Annan passed on handwritten notes to aid Eric Tieku - an occurrence which counsel for the NPP, Godfred Dame, drew the attention of the sitting judge, Justice Mustapha Habib Logoh, on.

It will be recalled that Rexford Agyei Frimpong and Oppong Kyekyeku sent an application praying for an injunction to be placed on the October 18 primary two clear days after Mr. Alan Kyerematen - the leading contender to Nana Akufo-Addo - at his campaign launch, through Nana Ohene Ntow and Dr. Richard Anane, gave explicit warning to the NPP to extend the date of the congress, threatening that failure to do so would result in a law suit against the party.

Justice Habib Logoh will on Friday, 3 October, 2014, rule on the applica­tion filed by the plaintiffs.
