Audio By Carbonatix
National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has formally been slapped with four charges over an explosive audio recording which leaked last week.
He has now been formally placed under arrest and is facing charges of threat of harm, conspiracy to commit harm, rioting and assaulting a public officer.
Mr Ofosu Ampofo categorically denies all the charges, Joy News’ Kwesi Parker Wilson reported from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters Monday.
According to the reporter, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo categorically stated that the audio is doctored.
He has since been granted bail ¢400,000 with two sureties and is to report back to the CID headquarters on Thursday.

Excuses
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo after failing to honour two previous invitations to appear before the CID due to "bereavement", finally availed himself in the company of leading party members.
In a voice that sounds like the NDC National Chairman, he is heard talking about several issues, including attacks on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and the Chairman of the Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante.
The CID issued a press statement last Wednesday explaining that they had invited the NDC Chair to assist the police with investigations, but his lawyers said their client did not receive any official invitation until late afternoon last Thursday.

The party executives joined their chairman to the CID office in solidarity while their supporters massed up at the entrance to the CID headquarters demanding his release.
The supporters had accused the police of a deliberate attempt to frustrate their chairman who had endured over five hours of interrogation.
