National Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the Party is now the most attractive in the Ashanti region.
According to Kofi Adams, there is a mad rush for party cards especially among chiefs and students in the opposition stronghold.
His comment is in reaction to the decision by some senior staff of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to campaign vigorously for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Under the banner, “KNUST NPP Frontliners”, the group has the goal of helping the NPP to offer policy alternatives and ideas to help improve the country’s socio-economic development.
But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Kofi Adams said the decision by the University staff to show their political colours is “much ado about nothing”.
In his view, they have the right to form an association but it does not in any way pose a threat to the electoral fortunes of the NDC in 2016.
The NDC National Organiser maintained that the ruling party has gained massive grounds in the strongholds of the NPP and its aim of getting one million votes in 2016 will be a reality.
“NDC is now the most attractive party in Ashanti region; the Party is very strong and solid on the ground” he added.
Kofi Adams said the KNUST staff might save the NPP from the incessant media embarrassments.
“NPP keeps sinking, the leadership is in disarray so the lecturers must help them put their house in order,” he stated sarcastically.
