The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to outdoor its running mate for the 2012 general elections in a fortnight.
The President, John Dramani Mahama Thursday received an overwhelming endorsement as the ruling party’s flag-bearer for the December presidential election after securing 99.5% of votes cast.
And NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia tells Joy News the confirmation of President John Mahama as the party’s leader yesterday has paved the way for a full-fledged campaign to retain power.
It is widely expected that Vice-President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur would be maintained for the ticket.
But Mr. Aseidu Nketia says he wants the president to say so himself because the decision of who partners him for the elections is his.
He stated that immediately after the exhibition of the voters’ register which begins today, “we will be introducing our running mate, and then we will be launching our manifesto… the campaign will continue with a nationwide outreach where our national appointees and national executives will all go to our root and help preach the message until the election.”
