The Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for due legal recognition as far as the party constitution is concerned.
A communiqué issued at the end of an Empowerment Workshop organised by the group in Accra, said: "As a matter of urgency, due legal recognition must be granted the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) as far as the NDC constitution is concerned".
It was under the theme: "Resources untapped; Harnessing the full potentials of TEIN".
The communiqué said social democratic ideals and historical background of the NDC made it the most ideal party the youth of Ghana must join and work for.
It called for the provision of regular budgetary support for TEIN at all levels, and the appointment of regional TEIN Coordinators must cease immediately.
The communiqué said Regional TEINs must be established at all regional levels across the country with elected executives, and a national TEIN established as the umbrella body for all TEINs with elected national executives.
It said: "as a matter of urgency, a copy of the amendments to the party's constitution adopted at the 2010 National Congress must be provided with immediate effect to TEIN through the Greater Accra Regional TEIN. All requests in the document of 'TEIN Proposals' must be provided for TEIN".
"We the executives of TEIN wish to state our unwavering faith in the social democratic agenda of the NDC. In the interest of progress of the party, we entreat the national executives of the party to take all the necessary steps to ensure that unity prevails in the NDC," the statement said.
