The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to crush the ambitions of the New Patriotic Party to make inroads in the Volta Region in the 2016 elections.
The largest opposition party is targeting thirty percent of the votes in the NDC’s stronghold as it strategizes to winning the presidential polls next year.
Listen to communications director of the NPP, Nana Akomea.
In the Volta Region there is a traditional attachment to the government so it is like this your brother whether he is a good boy or bad boy he is your brother.
That's is the mentality. Same as in the Ashanti Region for the NPP. But because the performance of the government has been so bad we believe that a lot of the traditional attachment can either be turned into apathy if not outright votes against the NDC.
So we are confident that when we go and show the evidence of the poor performance of the government there may be people who will not vote for them.
Nana Akomea cited the Nigerian example where newly elected president turned a deficit of 10 million votes into a positive 2 million votes.
But the deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho told Joy News' Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah the party will make sure this doesn’t happen.
He said his party is ready and prepared to prevent the NPP from achieving its ambitions from the Volta Region.
