The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is convinced it can command 50% of all votes in the region noted as the second stronghold of the opposition NPP – the Eastern region.
In its bid to actualize this dream, the party has officially launched AGENDA 50/50 at a party rally held Saturday.
The project code-named ‘Kyem P3’ meaning ‘share the spoils’.
Explaining aspects of the 2016 election objective, NDC Eastern regional secretary and board member of the National Communication Authority, Mark-Oliver Kevor stated that the party is seeking to win about eight more parliamentary seats in addition to the seven it currently has.
This when achieved, the secretary explained, will correspond to the number of popular votes the party has recorded in recent elections.
Addressing NDC sympathizers in Suhum, National Organizer of the NDC, Isaac Kofi Adams drew attention to what he described as massive development projects the government has committed itself to.

Deputy Employment minister Baba Jamal
Mr.Adams mentioned the establishment of a public university in the eastern region which recently received the backing of parliament, adding ‘’ if you want more of such projects in the Eastern region then the only option left for you is the NDC and not any other political party’’.
‘’The 50 percent claim to votes in the eastern region is based on solid grounds because we know what we have put in place, what we are going to put in place to ensure we realize that dream’’.
According to him the NPP during its reign did not do much to improve the lot of the people in the region.
‘’Not too long ago we could count the number of ministers from this region under president Kufuor but we all agree that they did nothing to improve the many challenges facing this region’’ he told party supporters.

‘’In recent past some people demonstrated against government on its failure to fix the bad roads in this region but now those people have admitted to the fact that president Mahama is now working to fix the broken roads. This clearly shows that the government is dedicated towards improving the lot of Eastern region.’’ he noted.
The former deputy General secretary of the party stressed that it now behoves on the regional party machine to drum the good works of the government into the minds of voters in the region.
‘’This agenda isn’t the regional chairman’s nor the secretary, all hands must be on deck .We all must descend to preach the good things this government is doing to the masses. This when done, I have no doubt president Mahama and the NDC will win the 2016 elections’’. Mr.Adams was brimming with confidence.
The program saw government and party officials including Communications minister ,Dr.Edward Omane Boamah, National vice chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Deputy General secretary, Samuel Koku Anyidoho.
All District Chief Executives and MPs in the region attended.
Officially launching the project, Mr.Samuel Ofosu Ampofo called for peaceful co-existence between party members. This he assured would propel the NDC to yet another victory.
