Joy Business has learnt that a new group has been formed to consider the fallouts of the recent utility tariff adjustment brokered by the Vice President.
The latest review saw a one percent reduction in electricity tariffs for residential consumers whilst the industrial sector consumers will enjoy as much as a 27 percent cut.
The AGI has however rejected the review as inadequate. The decision to set up the latest committee was taken at a meeting between the Finance Minister, the Association of Ghana Industries, the Trades Union Congress and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission at the Castle earlier Thursday.
The meeting was held behind closed doors. John Jinapor, Aide to the Vice President provides some details in an interview with Joy Business.
“TUC and PURC expressed their desire to have the utility tariffs further reduced,” he said, adding another meeting has been suggested.
He said it is possible for another downward review.
