Nhyiramma Foundation with support from OmniBank has handed over a newly constructed borehole to the people of Tom Krom, a suburb of Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
The borehole project is an initiative of Nhyiramma Foundation which is supported by OmniBank forms as part of their CSR to communities in which it operates.
As part of activities to mark the World Water Day on March 22, the commissioning of the project is earmarked to promote the importance of water and advocate for the sustainable management of water resources.
The intervention to Tom Krom which has been struggling with accessing portable drinking water for the past 50 years is a great welcome relief, some residents said.
Corporate Affairs Manager of OmniBank, Yaa Fosuah Gyamfi, said the move reflects their CSR theme “Growing Communities” which highlights an aspiration to develop deprived communities through long-term social intervention initiatives.
"In the same vein, the bank appreciates that water is life and a necessity for improving the living conditions of people.”
Also, president of Nhyiramma Foundation, Nana Adwoa Tutuwaa said the gesture was borne out of their mission to support people and communities others have ignored.
“Nhyiramma Foundation has been deeply rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to be given similar opportunities.
"As a result of that, we became deeply involved in adopting less privileged communities and providing them with the opportunity to enjoy basic amenities,” she stated.
She also revealed that they intend to build a school for the community after the chief pledged to provide a piece of land any time they are ready to commence the project.
“It is going to be a major milestone to give these kids the opportunity to enjoy basic education. We entreat all stakeholders to support in cash or kind to help us change the lives of these kids in Tom Krom” she added.
Nana Adwoa thanked OmniBank for their support and urged other corporate bodies to emulate their example.
