Today, the 21st day of September is the birthday of Ghana’s founding president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
It is being marked as a holiday across the country in respect of his pioneering role.
It is the day Ghana, and indeed the continent will observe in praise of a man who won many hearts as one of black Africa’s visionary leaders.
The day was set aside by the Mills administration to honour the contribution of Dr. Nkrumah.
Meanwhile, his centenary celebration committee says it will make public its expenditure on the year-long celebrations.
The Secretary to the committee, Mr Bernard Mornah told Joy News it was important for Ghanaians to use the day to reflect on the life and times of Dr Nkrumah.
He said the Nkrumah Centenary Celebrations Committee will organise a press event to mark the day.
Mr Mornah said a report on what the committee did during the celebrations will be issued.
