The last flagbearer aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress has picked up his nomination form on the deadline day Saturday.
Goozie Tanoh who made a return to the NDC after he broke away to form the Reform party said he is better placed to lead the NDC to victory in 2020.
So far eight persons have picked forms to contest the party’s primaries slated for January 26, 2019. They include ex-president John Mahama who was the first to pick, Prof Joshua Alabi, Nurideen Iddrisu, former Trades Minister Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah and Sylvester Mensah.
Former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu and Elipklim Agbamava who were part of the eight aggrieved aspirants who petitioned the party’s Council of Elders over the cost of filing fees have both withdrawn from the race with the latter declaring his support for ex-president John Mahama.
Shortly after picking the form, Saturday, the Goozie Tanoh team has hit the Central Region to campaign vigorously towards the January elections.
His campaign spokesperson, Eric Willimeg in an interview with Joy News declared: “now we are ready to compete and win the primaries and lead the party to victory.”
He, however, called for free and fair election.

“We believe it is going to be free and fair election and that the electoral committee that will be formed will not have strange names entering. That is our concern.
“We believe that when it is free and fair we will sail through,” he said.
Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Otokunor promised fair elections.
I can assure you that no constituency executive can influence the electoral process. All the election in all the 276 centers is fully conducted by the Electoral Commission.
All that we are supposed is to establish an electoral committee to supervise the activities across the country.
He said the party will not accept constituency executives preventing aspirants from campaigning.
