A Youth activist of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor has warned the opposition NPP not to think that they can blackmail Ghanaians to vote for them in the upcoming 2012 elections.
According to him, the NPP has made it their campaign strategy to put fear into Ghanaians by threatening all-die-be-die and win at all cost for people who will be gripped by fear to vote for them.
He opined that because the NPP knows Ghanaians are peaceful and do not want to experience war in the country, they will threaten them at all cost with war mongering tactics in order to vote for them.
“Look the NPP thinks if they threaten us with war and confusion, we will vote for them but let’s assure them they will fail in their agenda because Ghanaians are wise enough” he asserted.
Mark Manu in an interaction with party members in London is reported to have said the failure on the part of the police to protect them during the bye-elections in Akwatia, Cherepone and Atiwa has thought them a useful lesson and will consider protecting themselves in the next general election.
However reacting to the statement on Asempa Fm’s current affairs programme on Saturday, Peter Otokunor noted that the NPP had lost in advance if they will continue to blackmail Ghanaians with violent comments.
Peter Otukonor also took a swipe at the NPP’s Flagbearer, Nana Akuffo Addo saying “his all-die-be-die comments cannot blackmail Ghanaians to vote for him anywhere”.
He alleged that the NPP are now seeking for international support in order to carry out their agenda of creating chaos if the 2012 elections do not go their way.
“If not Germany that they are going for funds, you will see Nana in UK meeting Cameron for monetary assistance to fund their war mongering tactics ahead of the 2012 elections” he alleged.
He said the Flagbearer of the NPP is now making his campaign attractive to the foreigners by assuring them of Ghana’s oil if he becomes President of Ghana but said it will not materialize.
He said the NDC government will not sit to see the opposition creating chaos in the 2012 elections. ”You see president Mills has now set up the Peace Council and the next step is to resource the security agencies to prevent any misbehavior in the 2012 elections”.
