The New Patriotic Party is calling on the Muslim community to be steadfast and pray for the nation as the Ramadan season starts.
The party made this call at the office of the Al-Sunan Muslim Mission, when it’s Leadership led by the National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and National Campaign Manager, Mr. Boakye Agyarko and Nasara Coordinator Abubakar Suleiman, made a presentation to the Al- Sunan Chief Imam, Sheikh Umar Ibrahim.
The food items presented by the party is valued at GH¢5,400.
“As you offer prayers in solemnity to the Almighty Allah, we entreat you to ask for strength for our workforce, wisdom for our leaders, prosperity for us all and peace for mother Ghana,” Jake Obetsebi- Lamptey said.
The NPP, according to Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey, is committed to peace before, during and after the elections. He entreated all Muslims to help maintain peace during this election year.
He said the Zongo communities have now understood that the NPP has an all-inclusive agenda and also has a principle of balance in choosing a Christian and Muslim as presidential and running mate during general elections, contrary to the wicked agenda of the NDC.
He said the gesture was prudent, given the long-standing relationship that had existed between Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP and the Chief Imam. He referred to the invaluable advice from the Chief Imam that had enriched Nana Addo’s political career.
The Chief Imam expressed his profound appreciation and said that the donation was timely, noting that whatever prayer requests Nana Akufo- Addo had made during the period of Ramadan would be answered by Allah.
He prayed for Nana Akufo-Addo, asked for Allah’s peace and protection for him during his tour and thanked Allah for the peace that Ghana was enjoying, especially in the light of the peaceful coexistence among Muslim and Christian communities.
He advised political parties to jealously guard the peace in Ghana, with reference to the religious conflicts that plagued other countries in the sub-region. He also prayed against disunity.
The Chief Imam admonished political parties to work towards peaceful coexistence and emphasised that political parties should not divide the nation.
