The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is insisting that allegations against the Electoral Commission that it has tampered with the verification machines are true despite the Commission's denial.
The party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie had earlier accused the EC of setting the biometric machines used for the December 7 elections to zero in order to deprive the party of some evidence it intends to submit in court.
The EC has however denied the reports but according to the NPP, it still stands by its allegations.
In an interview with Citi FM, Mr. Owusu Afriyie opined that “when the Electoral Commission comes to deny some of these things especially more than a week after I had put this out, it tells you that they cannot be believed. I gave specific examples of Old Tafo and Akwatia; I expected the EC to address these two areas, they have not. They have just issued a denial which does not wash with the people of this country.”
He therefore challenged the EC to speak to the issues and areas mentioned by the party “whether or not it is not true that they have asked them to reset the machines to zero.”
