The Enquirer's intelligence has picked up strong signals that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is hatching a plot to discredit the ruling government in the hope of preventing the President of the United States of America (USA), Barack Husein Obama, from visiting the country. The American leader is expected to visit Ghana from July 10 to July 11, this year. To lead the onslaught, on behalf of the NPP, is its United States branch, whose executive team, as part of the game plan is expected to jam the State Department website with messages alleging injustices being perpetrated by the Ghana Government. Again, the chairman of the US branch of the NPP is expected to write a special letter to President Obama and the White House, to register the party's dissatisfaction with current developments in Ghana. An email circulating among some top NPP gurus in the US and Ghana, suggests that the key message to be sent to the US president should be that "the world's greatest democracy must lead by example." Other messages to be fired by the NPP will be "Obama's visit to Ghana will reinforce injustice," and "Obama, help correct injustice in Ghana." The email, which was sent to the NPP functionaries on Junel5, 2009 at 5:47 from nppusa@googlegroups.com , on behalf of Kwadwo O.A. Fordour, was on the subject NDC offensive and our response. It stated that current developments in Ghana show ample evidence that the NDC government is ready on retribution and all-out revenge against the NPP. The email, intercepted by The Enquirer intelligence, further said that the NDC plans on weakening and dismantling the NPP now to set an indelible mark in the minds of the Ghanaian electorate to help it in a clear lead in the 2012 elections. The US branch, according to the email said that the NDC is also working to completely obliterate the NPP from its legal existence, and that the NPP should not underestimate the virulence of the NDC political treachery when it comes to Ghanaian politics. It further stated that the plan by the NDC to deal with the NPP would not have been out-doored if Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng had not initiated his holiday journey, prior to President Obama's visit. The email, states further that the NPP should be clear that the NDC government will wait after Obama's visit before making any heavy political incursion. It states that numerous reasons, such as illegal stops, snatching of cars, and BNI disturbances in issues that are purely for the courts should be some of the issues to be raised to the American president to prevent him from coming to Ghana. The email said that the time for the NPP to act is now, else the party will be overtaken by unpardonable events in the very, very near future. It would be recalled that the UK branch of the NPP hatched similar plans to demonstrate in London when President J.E.A. Mills went on an official visit to that country last month.
