Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ Senior High School has secured a place in the one-eighth stage of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), emerging as the only girls’ school from the Ashanti Region to qualify from the preliminary round.
Competing at Auditorium 900, Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ SHS finished with 34 points, tying with Northern School of Business, before triumphing in a tiebreaker to clinch qualification.
The contest, however, took a dramatic turn after Attafuah Senior High Technical School was disqualified in Round Four for cheating, leaving Serwaa Nyarko and Northern School of Business in a tense two-way battle for the top spot.

Their qualification comes as two of Ashanti’s leading female contenders, St. Louis SHS and Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS, were knocked out of the competition.
St. Louis SHS could not progress beyond this year’s prelims, while Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS also failed to advance this time around.
Serwaa Nyarko Girls’ SHS will now carry the flag for Ashanti’s female schools as the competition enters the one-eighth stage, hoping to make a strong impression in the next round of the national championship.
