The Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has revealed that the Assin South Member of Parliament (MP), Rev. Ntim Fordjour, is safe and in good spirits following an attempt by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to arrest him.
"Honourable Ntim Fordjour is okay, he is in high spirits, I speak to you from his residence, actually, he just entered the room where I am, I just want to let everybody rest assured that indeed this democracy will be protected," he said on JoyNews' The Pulse.
This was after some NPP bigwigs Wednesday, April 9 stormed the MPs house to prevent his arrest.
He added, "As a democratic country, we will not allow our country into this kind of undemocratic behaviour so certainly we are behind him."
The NIB stormed the house to arrest the MP over the AirMed flight controversy.
According to Rev. Ntim, the two aircraft had landed in the country to engage in money laundering and illicit drug trafficking, calling on the government to address the matter.
Meanwhile, the government rejected the comment, stating that the MP's remarks were intended to tarnish the reputation of the John Mahama-led administration.
The NIB was reportedly at his house to arrest him and question him about the allegations he made.
