Mr Hayford Kugblenu, Hohoe District Coordinator of National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) was on Tuesday elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Hohoe-South Constituency.
Mr Kugblenu who is also Hohoe-South Constituency Chairman of NPP polled 42 votes to beat Mr Kwami Avega-Kamabla, Presiding Member of Hohoe District Assembly who had 19 votes and Mr Foster Tawiah, a social worker who had six out of the 67 votes cast.
He commended supporters of the party for the honour and urged all and sundry to come on board to collectively unseat the National Democratic Party (NDC) that has been winning the seat since 1992.
"I am inspired by government's goodwill, good governance, rule of law and development to canvass for votes, "he added.
Mr Avega-Kamabla and Mr Tawiah who conceded defeat pledged their support to Mr Kugblenu acknowledging that the exercise was a victory for democracy.
