The Obuasi Cricket Academy, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Cricket Association and with support from the Ghana Cricket Association, held its annual End-of-Year Awards and Dinner Night on December 21, 2024.
The event celebrated outstanding cricket players, sponsors, and key supporters who contributed to the academy’s success throughout the year.
The evening brought together notable dignitaries, including the Treasurer of the Ghana Cricket Association and Women’s Cricket Representative, Madam Angela Cassandra Allottey, and the Ashanti Regional Secretary, Mr. Samuel Richard Marcourt, to honor the contributions that have propelled cricket in Obuasi to greater heights.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of the Underground Mining Alliance (UMA) for its unwavering sponsorship.
Speaking at the event, UMA’s Operations Manager, Mr. Oscar Van Etten, expressed his passion for cricket, encouraging young players to continue their commitment to the sport. He was joined by UMA’s Project Manager, Mr. Bright Duho, and Ghana Mine Workers Union Branch Chairman, Mr. Eugene Acquah, who also attended in support of the academy’s vision.

Players, coaches, and staff of the academy were celebrated for their remarkable dedication and achievements. Individual awards included:
• Best Bowler: Kate Awuah
• Most Improved Batter: Eva Kodie
• Dedicated Wicket Keeper: Mabel Kwaning
• Most Promising Player: Richard Amponsah
• Most Inspired Player: Ronaldo Baah
• Most Disciplined Player: Anabella Konsagi
Coaches and staff were also acknowledged:
• Long-Term Serving Coach: Williams Kanchoba
• Most Dedicated Coach: Eric Manu
• Scorer of the Year: Florence Owusu Ansah
• Great Leadership Award (Patron): Mr. John Williams
Recognizing the pivotal role of education, the academy extended gratitude to institutions and individuals who have supported its integration of sports into academics. Honorees included Prof. Lawrence Darkwa of KNUST Obuasi, the Education Directors of Obuasi East and Obuasi West Municipalities, and teachers from partner schools.
