Authorities in the mining city of Obuasi in the Ashanti region have a daunting task of getting residents to be acquainted with new street names and house numbers.
The Municipal Assembly over the weekend launched the first phase of its street naming and house numbering exercise, as part of efforts to develop a more reliable address system.
Obuasi is the first district in the country to start the comprehensive address exercise.
Joy FM Correspondent, Kwabena Ampratwum said city authorities hoped the exercise will enhance emergency response as well as revenue mobilization.
But Ampratwum reports that residents have little or no idea of what the names of their street are.
