Members of Parliament representing the Okaikwei North, South and Central constituencies are advocating the creation of a new municipality from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
The MPs say they fully satisfy all requirements necessary for the creation of a municipality under the 1992 constitution.
MP for Okaikwei central, Patrick Yaw Boamah says the action is aimed at assisting in the decentralization programme to ensure speedy development of the area.
The advocacy if successful will ensure dedicated funds for the running of the assembly. The proponent of the idea believes will help in the provision of basic amenities for the community.
Patrick Yaw Boamah wants the President to pay attention to their request.
