The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have announced that Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin will grace the 35th edition of the Awards Night on September 11 at the Banquet Hall, State House Accra.
A statement signed by William Ezah, Acting General Secretary of SWAG said the Okyehene is expected to add colour to the event with his royal presence.
It said Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin is one of many notable personalities within and outside the sporting field expected to grace this year’s edition of the event that will reward sports personalities who performed exceptionally in 2009.
Also invited are General Seyi Memene, Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Amos Adamu, CAF Executive Committee member and President of West Africa Football Union as well as Jacques Anouma, FIFA Executive Committee member and President of the Ivorian Football Federation.
In all 23 distinguished sports personalities will be honoured on the Awards night which will be graced by various sporting personalities in the country.
Telecommunications giants, MTN are the headline sponsors of the event with support from Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, K’naf Couture, Blue Skies, Voltic Ghana Limited, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited and Akosombo Textiles Limited.
Black Stars trio of Michael Essien, John Pantsil and Dominic Adiyiah are the contenders for the flagship prize, the “Sports Personality of the Year” award.Source: GNA
