A mobile banker of the Kwamanman Rural Bank at Kwamang in the Sekyere Central District of Ashanti has been shot by two armed robbers who succeeded in robbing the bank of an undisclosed amount of money, Monday.
Armed with AK 47 assault rifle and a Short gun, the robbers dressed in all-black attire shot 40-year old Antwi Boateng on the forehead and the right armpit after storming the bank on a motorbike.
He was later pronounced dead at the Mampong Government Hospital.
Two female staffs of the bank are currently on admission at the hospital after being traumatized by the presence of the robbers.
The robbers upon arrival at the bank’s premises first held the private security officer of the bank, one Dominic Sefa Boakye at gunpoint.

According to the security officer, the sporadic shooting by the robbers forced many residents to run for cover.
Station Officer at the Kwamang Police station, Inspector Daniel Osei who confirmed the incident to Nhyira FM’s correspondent Nana Boaten said police received distress calls about the robbery incident and responded swiftly.
But the robbers had then managed to escape on their motor bikes.

The body of the deceased who left behind a wife and four children has been deposited at the Mampong Government Hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Mampong Divisional Command has mounted a search for the robbers after they picked information they abandoned their motorbike in the area.
