One person has been shot dead and another injured after armed persons attacked their residence at Sampsonkrom, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region on the night of Wednesday July 17.
The deceased, 40-year-old Abubakar Fuseini, a security personnel, and the injured man have all been sent to the AngloGold Ashanti hospital at Obuasi.
The injured person was shot in the leg - just above the knee - but Police say he is responding to treatment.
Obuasi Police Crime Officer, DSP Otuo Acheampong said his outfit was informed around 6:30 am about the attack.
The assailants attacked the two victims at the residence of the injured person, who is a gold dealer. Reports indicate this residence also serves as the premises for his gold-dealing business.
Police have mounted a search for the assailants.
