The Greater Accra Region Minister, Henry Quartey has alleged that some onion sellers at Agbogbloshie have contracted a spiritualist to have him killed.
According to the Minister, the action of the agitated traders is because he intends to relocate them to the ‘abandoned’ Adjin Kotoku site as part of the ‘Let Make Accra Work’ campaign.
But maintaining his resolve to implement the operation, Mr Quartey on Accra-based Net 2 TV said nothing was going to prevent him from playing his role in actualising the campaign.
He believed that divine intervention will always keep him safe from ‘evil’ predicaments.
“Whether they [traders] like it or not, we will move them because we have made an alternative arrangement for them. I have heard they have gone to some mallam [spiritualist] to kill me.
“They are kidding. They should tell the mallam [spiritualist] to return to his hometown because so far as God exists, nothing will happen to Henry Quartey, and by July 1, 2021, we shall move them,” he insisted.
In less than three months of being appointed as Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Quartey, has launched a campaign dubbed: ‘Let’s make Accra work’.
The non-partisan agenda, according to him, is focused on ensuring the socio-economic development of the region.
Among other initiatives, the Regional Minister seeks to decongest the capital and make it clean, improve the drainage system.
So far, he has supervised the removal of unauthorized traders along some major streets, the pulling down of unauthorized structures.
These activities have won him the admiration of some Ghanaians, but he stresses that the success of the campaign involves all and sundry.
