Ghana’s Otto Addo has been named the assistant coach of Denmark club FC Nordsjaelland. The former Black Stars player who also has over 300 German Bundesliga games under his belt starts his duty on Monday as assistant to head Coach Kasper Hjulmand.
The German-born Ghanaian said of his role at FC Nordsjaelland:
“I’m really thrilled for this new opportunity and I’m looking forward to meeting the other coaches and players.
“I’m really excited with the big Danish talent here that can be supplemented by players from Right to Dream, this will give us an unique chance of developing people to the highest level.”
Coach Kasper Hjulmand who is looking forward to working with German Bundesliga winner Otto Addo told the club’s official website:
“Otto is a person that looks at football the same way that we want the game to be played here in FCN. “The experience that Otto brings, not only as a player but also as coach at Hamburg, means that we will add a person to the coaching team that will give us important knowledge that we can use in the training every day to make the players even better.”
Head of football at FC Nordsjaelland Carsten V. Jensen said of Otto Addo’s appointment:
“We have been looking for an addition to the team and with Otto on board we have a coach who understands the European and African mentality.
“Otto brings valuable experience with the German-mentality with more than 300 games in the Bundesliga and playing in the World Cup. This mentality should help all our players to understand what it takes to play at the top level.”
Otto Addo played 15 games for the senior national team of Ghana during his playing career. The Ghanaian at club level played for Borussia Dortmund, VFL 93 Hamburg, Hannover 96, FSV Mainz 05 and Hamburger SV.
