The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II says it is only when Ghanaians change their attitude towards the environment, that the country’s sanitation can improve.
According to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, until the peoples’ attitude changes the insanitary conditions currently witnessed in many parts of the country will remain the same.
The Asantehene made the call when the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Julius Debrah led a high powered delegation to present sanitation tools and equipment to him, towards the National Sanitation Day which is currently underway.
It is also to honour Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the interest and the enthusiasm he has shown in previous National Sanitation Day exercises.

The Asantehene regretted the current level of indiscipline in the society and called on Ghanaians to adopt a positive attitudinal change towards environmental sanitation.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Manhyia, Friday, January 2, Mr. Julius Debrah commended the Asantehene for his immense contribution and support for the National Sanitation Days.
The Ministry has so far distributed 10,000 litter bins across the Ashanti Region where the exercise is being observed.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye wants sanctions to be imposed on citizens who deliberately abstain from the National Sanitation exercise. The National exercise, meant to encourage voluntary cleaning of communities by the public, has been fraught with apathy.
DCOP Kofi Boakye wants the various assemblies to institute bye-laws to punish people who stay away from the national exercise.
He told Luv News it is de-motivating to find shop owners and traders fold arms and watch as the cleaning goes on.
Commander One, as he is affectionately called, wants the exercise to be seen as a national rather than a political action.
